Description
For sample adults age 40 years and older, CAT1YR indicates whether the respondent had a CAT or CT scan in the last twelve months. Interviewers explained, "During this test, you are lying down and moved through a donut shaped x-ray machine while holding your breath."
Those with an affirmative response in CAT1YR were asked whether the CAT scan had been done of their chest area (CCAT1YR) and, if so, whether the purpose of the test was to check for lung cancer (CCAT1YRYCAN).
