Description

For sample adults who had seen a practitioner for a therapeutic movement technique during the past 12 months (MOVALEXYR, MOVFELDYR, MOVPILATYR, or MOVTRAGYR ) and who had used a movement technique for a specific health problem (MOVTREAT), MOVNOCONV identifies those who had received no conventional medical treatment for the condition for which they most used a movement technique (MOVTCONMOST).

The survey question for MOVNOCONV collected information about the use of specific conventional medical treatments for the condition for which a movement technique was used the most, if the person had received conventional medical treatment. The specific treatments asked about were:

• Mental health counseling (MOVCOUN)

• Prescription medications (MOVPMED)

• Over-the-counter medications (MOVNPMED)

• Physical therapy (MOVPT)

• Surgery (MOVSURG)

Interviewers asked, "Did you receive any of these conventional medical treatments for [condition for which the movement technique was used the most]?" and entered all treatments reported by the respondent.
