Description
For sample adults ages 18 and older who ate spinach in the past year, SPINSIZ reports the size of the portion consumed (small, medium, or large). A medium portion was defined as ½ cup. Researchers may wish to use SPINSIZ in conjunction with SPINNO, which reports the number of units of spinach consumed and SPINTP, which reports the corresponding time period.
SPINSIZ is part of a series of variables initiated in 1987 related to food, food knowledge, and cancer. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
