For sample persons age 20 and older in the second half of 1975, EXSOFTBPAR indicates whether the person had participated in softball in the past 12 months.

Softball was one of 15 sports (including one residual "other" category) that respondents were asked about in the 1975 NHIS. Those who responded "Yes" to EXSOFTBPAR were asked whether they had participated in softball as part of a team (EXSOFTBTEM) and whether they had participated in softball tournaments either as an individual or as a member of a team (EXSOFTBTOR) during the past 12 months.

Comparability
