For sample persons age 20 and older in the second half of 1975, EXBBALLPAR indicates whether the person had participated in basketball in the past 12 months.

Basketball was one of 15 sports (including one residual "other" category) that respondents were asked about in the 1975 NHIS. Those who responded "Yes" to EXBBALLPAR were asked whether they had participated in basketball as part of a team (EXBBALLTEM) and whether they had participated in basketball tournaments either as an individual or as a member of a team (EXBBALLTOR) during the past 12 months.

Comparability
