Description
For sample persons age 18 and older who were employed in the past two weeks and who worked for a private company of the federal, state, or local government, QUITWKPROG reports if the person's employer offers a quit smoking program or any other help to employees who want to quit smoking. Comparability
There are minor changes in the universe statement between years, as outlined in the Universe tab, which impact the comparability of this variable over time. Users are advised to consider the impact that changes in the universe may have on their analyses when using data from multiple years.
Universe
- 1991: Sample persons age 18+ who were working or absent from a job in the past 2 weeks and who worked in the private sector or federal, state, or local government.
- 1993: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 3 and 4 (excluded from AIDS supplement) who were employed in the past 2 weeks for a private company or for federal, state, or local government.
- 1994: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from AIDS supplement) who were employed in the two weeks in the private sector or for federal, state, or local government, who work mainly indoors, and whose employers have an official policy that restricts smoking.
- 1998: Sample adults age 18+ who were working or absent from a job last week and who worked in the private sector or federal, state, or local government.
