Description
For sample persons under 18, this variable indicates if the sample child ever had a hay fever. The inquiry did not require a diagnosis by a medical doctor or health professional. A definition of hay fever was not provided in the Field Representative's Manual and the term was assumed to be respondent defined.
This variable was part of a series of questions on child health conditions in the 1988 Supplement on Child Health.
Related Variables
Along with HAYFEVEREV, respondents were asked if the child ever had any of 33 conditions, grouped in nine categories.
HAYFEVEREV was grouped with one other variable, RALLERGYEV, ever had any other kind of respiratory allergy.
