Description
For sample persons age 18 to 59, STDPREVENT reports the contraceptive method that the respondent believed was best for preventing sexually transmitted diseases.
[show more]Interviewers asked, "Which of these do you think is the most effective for preventing sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis, gonorrhea or AIDS?" Respondents were given a card with seven specific choices, and the survey form instructed interviewers to mark only one choice (including "don't know methods" and "don't know").
Choices included on the flashcard were:
- Diaphragm
- Condom (rubber)
- IUD (loop, coil)
- Rhythm (safe period by calendar)
- Foam
- Pill
- Withdrawal (pulling out)
