For sample persons under 5 years old, SHOWANTEV reports if the child has ever shown that he or she wanted something without crying or whining. It may have been by pointing, pulling, or making pleasant sounds.
Child motor and social development variables should be combined with AGE, BIRTHMO (Month of birth), and INTERVWMO (Month of NHIS interview) to provide complete information about the child's developmental progress.
