Codes and Frequencies
Description
For sample persons ages 18 and over who expect to have a blood test for the AIDS virus infection in the next twelve months, ATRNYROREQ reports if the respondent expects to have the blood test as a requirement for some other activity that includes a blood sample and automatic AIDS testing.
Comparability
Changes in reasons for having an HIV or AIDS test change across survey years. The inclusion of other requirement response categories (e.g., marriage license in 1991-1992 or immigration in 1990) affect the comparability of ATRNYOREQ over time.
Changes in survey design (e.g. quarters or subsamples) affect raw frequencies but do not affect comparability between samples. As always, data users should apply prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
