Description

HEALTHCLASPL reports the location of the health class that the respondent attended in the previous 12 months. In 1995, this question was asked of sample adults 65 years and older who did not have meals delivered by an organization (or for whom it is unknown whether the respondent had meals delivered) and who participated in a class on health topics in the past 12 months (HEALTHCLASYR). In 1998, this question was asked of sample adults 65 years and older who took a class on health topics in the past 12 months (HEALTHCLASYR).

The survey form from 1995 and 1998 direct the interviewer to probe for the most recent location if the respondent reports attending multiple health classes.

Comparability

Apart from the universe changes, this variable is comparable over time.

Universe

  • 1995: Half of sample persons age 65+ (excluded from AIDS supplement) who do not have meals delivered by an organization or for whom this information is unknown and who participated in a class on health topics in the past 12 months.
  • 1998: Sample adults age 65+ who took a class on health topics in the past 12 months.
