For sample children age 4 to 17, BEDWETYR reports responses to the question, "During the past 12 months, has [sample child] had ... Incontinence, including bed wetting?"

Comparability

This variable is only available in 2007.

For 2002 and 2007, URINPROBEV identifies sample adults whom a doctor or other health professional had ever diagnosed as having urinary problems (such as incontinence, frequent or slow urination, or infections). Sample adults with an affirmative response in URINPROBEV were asked the follow-up question, ""During the past 12 months, have you had urinary problems such as incontinence, frequent or slow urination or infections?" In 2007 only, respondents were asked, "During the past 12 months, has a doctor or other health professional told you that [sample child] had urinary problems, including urinary tract infection?" Responses to these questions are reported in URINPROBYR (Had urinary problem, past 12 months).
