Description

In 1977 a series of questions were asked of a one-third subsample of persons ages 20 and over. For all persons, SUBSRESP77 notes the person's status as a respondent to these additional questions.

Persons selected to respond to these additional questions who did not complete the questionnaire are placed into varying response categories for each question of this supplement in the original NHIS data. The variable descriptions for questions to which this one-third subsample responded note how persons who did not complete the questionnaire have been handled. Persons wishing to recategorize these non-responding selected sub-respondents should use SUBSRESP77 to identify and reassign these persons.
