For sample persons 3 or older who had a speech problem in the past 12 months (VSLSPYR), VSLTROUB indicates if their speech problems led to problems or difficulty speaking. This includes stuttering, trouble pronouncing words correctly, or both.

VSLPTST is a similar variable, but provides ‘yes’ or ‘no’ responses, rather than the detailed categories this variable provides.
