Description

For sample persons age 18 and older who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes and who smoke now or quit smoking in the past 5 years, TRYQOTHER5Y indicates if the person tried something other than those methods already mentioned to try to stop smoking in the past 5 years. Methods already mentioned in the survey are: attended a formal program such as SmokEnders, the American Cancer Society program or American Lung Association program, went to a health professional for help, used special filters or cigarette holders to regulate the amount of smoke inhaled, switched to a lower tar and nicotine cigarette, tried to stop with friends, relatives, or acquaintances, and tried to stop entirely on her/his own.
