Description

For all persons, HOSPNOMC is a recoded variable which reports if the person had any insurance plan that pays for hospital bills, not counting (other than) Medicare coverage. Respondents were instructed to exclude plans that pay only for accidents.

Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IHIS weights.
