Description

For sample adults in 2000 who had taken any mixed or single herbal or botanical supplement during the past 12 months (HERYR) and sample adults and children in 2012 who had taken any herbs or non-vitamin supplements, HERYOTH indicates whether the person had taken any "other" herbal supplement during the past 12 months.

"Other" herbal supplement was one of many alternative health treatment modalities included in the 2002 and 2012 Complementary and Alternative Health Supplements. If sample respondents gave a positive response to HERYOTH, they were asked a series of follow-up questions.

Comparability

  • 2012: Sample adults age 18+ and sample children ages 4-17 who have taken herbs or other non-vitamin supplements in the past 12 months.
