For sample persons age 18 years and over who were ever told they had cancer (CANCEREV), CANRECUREV indicates if at anytime since they were first diagnosed with cancer a doctor or other health professional told them that their cancer had come back.

Those who gave an affirmative response to CANRECUREV were asked a follow-up question to determine the year of the most recent recurrence (CANRECURYR).
