Comparability
Changes in the universe affect the comparability of this variable between 1987 and subsequent years.
In 1987, this variable included sample adults who have any children aged 10 to 17 and who reported a time when they saw, heard, or read something about AIDS. In 1988 onward, this variable comprised of sample adults who have any children aged 10 to 17.
In 1988 onward, there are changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) that may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IHIS weights.
