Codes and Frequencies
For sample persons ages 18 and older who were employed in the last two weeks, and who reported to be exposed to at least one work condition that could endanger her/his own health, WEXCOND1HEL4 reports the fourth type of health effect for the first reported condition. Persons could report up to six such conditions, and for each condition, they could report up to four ways their own health could be endangered as a result of it.
This variable was introduced in 1985 as part of a series of variables on occupational safety and health. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
- 1985: Sample persons age 18+ who were employed in the past 2 weeks, who are exposed to any work conditions that could endanger health, who mentioned at least one dangerous working condition or for whom the dangerous condition was unknown, and who mentioned three ways how the first dangerous condition affects health or for whom the health effect was unknown.
