Description

For persons under age 18, WATEMPSCALDCH reports the temperature at or above which the household sample person believes water will scald a person. The answer provided by the household sample adult was applied to the person record for any children under age 18 in the household; children's records should not be interpreted as meaning that the child knew the temperature at which water causes scald injuries.

WATEMPSCALDCH was part of the Health Prevention and Disease Promotion supplement periodically included in the NHIS which helped measure national goals towards the Healthy People Initiative of the U.S. Surgeon General.
