For sample adults ages 18 and older who ever had a voice problem that lasted a week or longer, VSLVRX reports if the person was told that her or his voice problems were caused by prescription medication or drugs (other than problems resulting from drinking alcohol or use of illicit drugs).

VSLVRX is part of the Adult Voice, Speech and Language Supplement. For related variables and more information, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus, or see VSLDIAG, which reports on diagnosis, VSLVDAYS, which reports on the problem duration and extent, and VSLVSLPYR, which reports on treatment.
