For sample adults ages 18 and older who have ever had a diagnosis for a language problem that lasted a week or longer, VSLLGDLLD reports whether the respondent's problem understanding words or sentences was caused by a Developmental Language-Learning Disorder (e.g. Specific Language Impairment (SLI), learning disability, or dyslexia).
VSLLGLLD is part of the Adult Voice, Speech and Language Supplement. For related variables and more information, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus, or see VSLDIAG, which reports on diagnosis, VSLVDAYS, which reports on the problem duration and extent, and VSLVSLPYR, which reports on treatment.
