Description

For sample persons under age 18, VISIONPROBEV indicates if the child ever had any "other" trouble seeing with one or both eyes, even when wearing glasses. Other trouble was in reference to problems other than the four eye conditions asked about immediately prior to the question for VISIONPROBEV (see the 4 variables below). The inquiry did not require the problem to be diagnosed by a doctor or health professional, and definitions of the term "other trouble" was not provided in the survey text or Field Representative's Manual and assumed to be respondent-defined.

The question for VISIONPROBEV was part of a series of questions on child health conditions in the 1988 Supplement on Child Health.
