Description

For sample adults aged 18 and over and sample children ages 4-17 who reported having at least three top alternative medicine (CAM) therapies and reported using their third CAM therapy to treat a specific health problem, symptom, or condition, TOTH13 reports if the person used the third of her/his top three therapies to treat her/his first other health problem. TOTH13 can paired with CAMTHER3, which reports the corresponding CAM therapy that was used to treat this other health problem. Comparability

The condition for sample adults in TOTH13 is automatically filled from an earlier section of the survey where persons could report other limiting conditions/health problems. Sample adults could report up to four other conditions treated by their third top CAM therapy: two conditions automatically filled from previous sections in the survey (TOTH13 and TOTH23), an "other-specify" condition (TOTH33), as well as "other-condition not elsewhere classified" (TOTH43).

Sample children could only provide a single other condition treated by their first CAM therapy, defined as "other-specify". The specific conditions that correspond to each of these other condition are not available. The sample child "other-specify" condition variable has been combined with the first automatically filled sample adult variable in the TOTH11, TOTH12, TOTH13 variables as they are the first, and only other condition reported for sample children, even though the description of this other information source more closely matches that of the sample adult variables TOTH31, TOTH32, TOTH33.
