Description

For sample adults, TOBQTYR reports if, during the past 12 months, the respondent stopped using ALL KINDS of tobacco products for more than one day because he or she was trying to quit using tobacco. "All kinds" of tobacco products were described as "smoking cigarettes, smoking products other than cigarettes, and using smokeless tobacco products". Only respondents who indicated they were using tobacco products around the same time last year (TOBLSYR), or were current users of any tobacco products (SMOKFREQNOW, NONCIGNOW, SMKLSFREQNOW) were asked this question.

Comparability

TOBQTYR was introduced in 2012, along with five other questions regarding non-cigarette tobacco use, as part of the adult health behaviors section of the sample adult questionnaire. There are no comparability issues.
