Description
STROKERISK indicates which condition the respondent believed to be most related to having a stroke. Interviewers asked, "In your opinion, which of these conditions MOST increases a person's chances of having a stroke -- diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol?"
If the respondent chose more than one answer, both the 1998 and 1990 Field Representative's Manuals instructed interviewers to probe further and to emphasize that the question was seeking their opinion on the condition most strongly related to having a stroke.
