For sample persons less than 6 months old, SOLFOODEV indicates whether the child had ever been given solid or non-liquid food.
While the 1981 Field Representative's Manual, did not provide a definition of solid food, it does provide examples, "such as commercially prepared strained and junior foods, "table foods," or any other non-liquid foods."
