Description

For respondents age 18 and over who reported they did not smoke now, (SMOKENOW =1), SMOKFREQ2 indicates responses to a follow-up question, "Do you now smoke cigarettes 'not at all' or 'some days'?"

Related Variables

SMOFREQ2 is used with SMOFREQ1, SMOKEV and SMOKENOW to report the recoded variables SMOKESTATUS1 and SMOKESTATUS2.

There are no comparability issues.

Universe

  • 1991: Sample persons age 18+ who have ever smoked 100 cigarettes and do not currently smoke.
  • 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2 and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have ever smoked 100 cigarettes and do not currently smoke.
