Description

For respondents age 18 and over who ever smoked and currently smoked some days or not at all, SMOKDALYLGY is a recoded variable indicating the duration of time since the respondent last smoked cigarettes every day, grouped in categories. The recode provides categories of less than half a year (1-5 months), half to one year (6-11 months), 1 to 4 years, 5 to 9 years, 10 to 14 years, and 15 or more years.

Comparability

This variable is only available for 1991.

Universe

  • 1991: Sample adults age 18+ who ever smoked 100 cigarettes and who currently smoke some days or not at all.
