Description

For respondents who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes and smoke on some days (rather than everyday) and who have smoked at least once in past 30 days (from the date of the interview), this variable reports if the respondent ever smoked cigarettes every day for at least 6 months.

Comparability

This variable is only available for 1992.

Universe

  • 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2, and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes, smoke cigarettes now, and smoke some days or who indicate that they do not smoke now but smoke some days, and smoked at least once in past 30 days (or for whom the number of days smoked in the past 30 days was unknown).
