Description

For persons under age 18 with one or more working smoke detectors in the home, SMOKALBEEPCH reports whether the sample adult in the child's household knows the smoke detector works because the smoke detector beeps when the battery is low. The answer provided by the household sample adult was applied to the person record for any children under age 18 in the household; children's records should not be interpreted as meaning that the child heard the smoke detector.
