Description
For respondents age 12 to 21, this variable reports the age when the respondent first started smoking cigarettes "fairly regularly," which was defined as at least one cigarette every day for 30 days.
[show more]This variable was part of the 1992Youth Behavior Survey (YBS), conducted several months after the 1992 NHIS. The YBS was conducted to gather information on the prevalence of good and bad health behaviors among youth in order to develop programs to improve the health of young people.
