For sample adults who ever had a skin cancer exam (SKNCANX), SKNXMD reports the type of physician seen for the exam.

The 1992 Field Representative's Manual defined a dermatologist as, "A medical doctor specializing in skin care and its disease."

1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2 and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from the CAEP supplement) who ever had a skin cancer exam and whose last exam was in the past 3 years.
