Description

For all persons, SIBLIVE reports the number of living full biological brothers and sisters the person has. Respondents are instructed not to include adopted, step or half brothers and sisters.

This variable is included in the 1976 Diabetes supplement. Respondents could also report:

  • Number of living full siblings with diabetes (DIASIBLIVE);
  • Number of living full siblings with unknown diabetes status (DIUNSIBLIVE);
  • Number of deceased full siblings (SIBDCSD);
  • Number of deceasedfull siblings with diabetes (DIASIBDCSD); and
  • Number of deceasedfull siblings with unknown diabetes status (DIUNSIBDCSD).
