Description
SIB4DIAC reports the type of cancer the sample person's fourth sibling with cancer was diagnosed with the FIRST time he or she was diagnosed with cancer. This was asked of sample persons ages 18 and older who reported that at least four full siblings were ever diagnosed with cancer, provided the type of cancer which the fourth sibling was diagnosed as having, and reported that his or her fourth sibling with cancer was diagnosed with another type of cancer.
Versions of this variable are available for up to five full siblings who were ever diagnosed with cancer. Please use the drop down menu and search function for related variables.
Universe
- 1987: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from CACT) who have at least 4 siblings (or an unknown number of siblings), for whom any siblings have been diagnosed with cancer, and whose fourth sibling reported as having known cancer BOTH has a valid cancer code for the first cancer AND was diagnosed with another type of cancer and has a valid cancer code for the other cancer type.
