Description

For sample persons ages 18 and older who have at least four full siblings who were diagnosed by a doctor as having cancer for which the sample person gave a valid cancer code and the fourth is known to be dead, SIB4AGED reports the age at which that sibling died.

Versions of this variable are available for up to five full siblings who were ever diagnosed with cancer. Please use the drop down menu and search function for related variables.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable.

Universe

  • 1987: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from CACT) who have at least 4 siblings (or an unknown number of siblings), for whom any siblings have been diagnosed with cancer, and whose fourth sibling reported as having known cancer has a valid cancer code and had died.
