Description

For sample persons ages 18 and older who have at least two full siblings who have been diagnosed by a doctor with cancer for which the sample person gave a valid cancer code, SIB2LIVE reports whether the sample person's second sibling with cancer is still living.

Versions of this variable are available for up to five full siblings who were ever diagnosed with cancer. Please use the drop down menu and search function for related variables.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable.

Universe

  • 1987: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from CACT) who have at least 2 siblings (or an unknown number of siblings), for whom any siblings have been diagnosed with cancer, and whose second sibling reported as having known cancer has a valid cancer code.
