Description

For sample persons ages 18 and older who reported that at least two full siblings were ever diagnosed with cancer by a doctor for which the sample person gave a valid cancer code, SIB2AGEC reports the age at which the sample person's second sibling with cancer was first diagnosed as having cancer.

Versions of this variable are available for up to five full siblings who were ever diagnosed with cancer. Please use the drop down menu and search function for related variables.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable.

Universe

  • 1987: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from CACT) who have at least 2 siblings (or an unknown number of siblings), for whom any siblings have been diagnosed with cancer, and whose second sibling reported as having known cancer has a valid cancer code.
