Description

For all sample persons age 12 to 21, SDINJEV reports whether the respondent ever injected any illegal drug. Young adults who responded that they had injected illegal drugs but reported in previous questions in the survey that they had never used any illegal drug are classified separately from those whose responses were compatible.

This variable was part of the 1992 Youth Behavior Survey (YBS), conducted several months after the 1992 NHIS. The YBS was conducted to gather information on the prevalence of good and bad health behaviors among youth in order to develop programs to improve the health of young people.
