Description

For sample adults with an available, knowledgeable sample proxy respondent (SAPROXYAVAIL), SAPROXYREL indicates the relationship of sample adult proxy to sample adult. Sample proxy respondents are used when the sample adult has a mental or physical condition that prevents them from responding for themselves.

Comparability

Starting in 2019, the responses “non-relative living in household” and “non-relative not living in household” were added. Additionally, “other caregiver” and “other” were removed as responses.
