Codes and Frequencies
Description
For sample adults, SALADSIZ reports the respondent's average portion size (small, medium, or large) when eating green salad. This includes all tossed salads with lettuce or other greens. A medium portion was defined as one medium bowl. Researchers may wish to use SALADSIZ in conjunction with SALADSNO, which reports the frequency with which the respondent ate green salad and SALADSTP, which reports the corresponding time unit.
SALADSIZ is part of a series of variables initiated in 1987 related to food, food knowledge, and cancer. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
