Description

For all persons living with their father in the household, RELPOP reports the type of relationship the person has to her/his father. Please see the comparability tab for information about changes in response categories.

Comparability

Beginning in 2013, the response categories for this variable were reduced. Biological and adoptive father were collapsed into a single category "biological or adoptive"; the only other response category options beginning in 2013 are "step", "in-law", or "other, or unknown". Persons may condense response categories from previous years to create categories comparable to those available in 2013. Users should note that this change in response categories is not reflected in the original 2013 questionnaire documentation.
