Description

For sample adults, REDMEATMTP reports the time unit (day, week, month, or year) that corresponds with the frequency with which the respondent reported eating red meat. This includes beef, pork, ham, or sausage. It does not include chicken, turkey, or seafood. REDMEATMTP should be used in conjunction with REDMEATMNO, which reports the corresponding frequency stated by the respondent.

REDMEATMTP is part of a series of variables related to food, food knowledge, and cancer.

Comparability

In 2005, the food frequency question format of separate frequency and time units was not used; instead respondents' answers were organized into pre-defined categories. Researchers interested in using all years of available data may consider seeing the 2005 variable REDMEATMO, and modifying REDMEATMNO and REDMEATMTP to correspond to the pre-defined categories from 2005.

There are no comparability issues with REDMEATMTP when used on its own.
