Description

For sample persons age 40 and over who have ever heard of a proctoscopic exam, have had a proctoscopic exam, and month and year of last exam was not reported, PROCEXTP reports the time unit (days, weeks, months, or years) since the person's last exam. PROCEXTP should be used in conjunction with PROCEXNO, which reports the corresponding number of units for the time since last proctoscopic exam.

For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues. Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies. As always, data users should use the prescribed IHIS weights.
