For sample adults who are of Hispanic origin, POPCSBORN reports the respondent's father's country or state of birth. Response categories include United States (other than Puerto Rico), Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico, or another country or state.

Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
