Description

For persons with at least one reported foot problem during the past 12 months, who still have the problem, and who got medical care for their foot problem in the past 12 months from a health care professional other than a podiatrist, an orthopedic specialist or surgeon, an osteopath, or a physical therapist, PODTROPROFV reports the number of times the person saw the (first) "other" type of health care professional for his or her foot problem.

PODTROPROFV was introduced in 1990 as part of the NHIS Podiatry Supplement. The purpose of this supplement is to obtain current data concerning problems with the feet, access to foot care, and the amount, frequency, and type of foot care obtained. For related variables and more information about this supplement, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
