Description

For persons who reported at least one foot problem during the past 12 months, who still have the problem, and who considered getting, but did not actually get medical care for their foot problem during the past 12 months, PODTRNOREAS indicates whether or not the person indicated any reason other than: "problems not severe," "no regular doctor," "too much bother," "no transportation," "no time," "office/hours not convenient," "cost too much," "no health insurance/not covered," "don't need care/problem(s) cured," "treated myself," "nothing helps the problem," or "didn't believe doctor could help" as a reason for not seeking treatment for his or her foot problems.

PODTRNOREAS was introduced in 1990 as part of the NHIS Podiatry Supplement. The purpose of this supplement is to obtain current data concerning problems with the feet, access to foot care, and the amount, frequency, and type of foot care obtained. For related variables and more information about this supplement, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
