Description

For persons with at least one reported foot problem during the past 12 months, who still have the problem, who considered getting professional care for the problem, and who got medical care for the foot problem or problems in the past 12 months, PODHASHINS reports whether or not the person's health insurance pays for treatment of his or her foot problems.

PODHASHINS was introduced in 1990 as part of the NHIS Podiatry Supplement. The purpose of this supplement is to obtain current data concerning problems with the feet, access to foot care, and the amount, frequency, and type of foot care obtained. For related variables and more information about this supplement, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
