Description
PLCPREVCARE reports if the respondent has a usual place for routine or preventive care.
Please see Comparability and Universe tabs for complete universe information. This variable was included in the 1993 to 1996 Access to Care supplement.
Comparability
This variable is comparable in 1993-1994 and 1995-1996 but not comparable between those years. In 1993 and 1994, this question was asked of all children. In 1993, this question was asked only of children in quarters 3 and 4; changes in quarters when questions are asked reduce precision of estimates but do not affect comparability. In 1995 and 1996, this question was asked of all persons who reported the reason they have no usual place of medical care is that they have two or more usual places, and that there is one place they use most often.
Universe
- 1993: All persons in quarters 3 and 4 under age 18.
- 1994: All persons under age 18.
- 1995-1996: All persons who reported no usual place of medical care because they have two or more usual places, and no one place most often.
